Data Visualization, Cesar Sandoval's first expericence


This is my first-ever blog entry  and I would like to start sharing my experience with Data Visualization and Analytics and some work that I’m doing around it as part of my daily work

First I’m getting the chance to test some products available on the market like Microsoft Business Intelligence, SAS Visual Analytics and Tableau among others.

I started reading an interesting book related to Data visualization called “Information Dashboard Design” written by Stephen Few, what basically are giving some tips and sharing some common bad practices done creating Information Dashboards.

I’ll share one basic example that it’s included in this book and represent graphically how Visual Analytics/reporting helps to take fast a better decisions by pulling the right information or highlight the relevant one. Let’s start with this simple game. How many 5s are included in the list below:

Better now, just applying to formatting changes to the “same report” can helps to achieve our goal in less time and less risk to be wrong
